Home Assistant

What I like most is the companion phone app, perfect for controls you may want to execute.

Some of the issues that can be solved with this really do make life easier, here I have two isp, bt line + 5G broadband, the 5g solution is flakey and of the box needs a reboot, with home assistant, i can script automate restarts and click a button if i want a one off restart of the 5g router.

Cool Automations

Auto early start, with a toggle control, when I have a business meeting or early release, with a toggle the night before, it can automatically start the hot water earlier for just that one day, and will re-set after.

Running HA

Most services i've chucked into k8s, but home assistant as it can interface with usb devices, i've left it running as a docker container on a VM, this allows me to increase resources if needed, whilst easily managing updates and can map usb devices in easily...

Current USB Devices

• SkyConnect allows me to integrate zigbee and later matter devices.
• Coral used to detect cats and other stuff in video streams.
